Members of the community gathered on the evening of Saturday, August 31, to remember those lost to substance abuse during National Overdose Awareness Day.
The event called “A Light to Remember” took place near the Stansbury Park Clubhouse from 7:30-9:00 p.m. During the event, there was naloxone training, booths with community resources, a memory wall to honor those lost, food trucks, music, and a moment of silence. Event attendees also launched luminaries into Stansbury Lake in memory of their lost loved ones and friends.
The event kicked off National Recovery Month, which falls in September each year. National Recovery Month is a time to promote and support new evidence-based treatment and recovery practices and to celebrate the recovery community.
