A haystack in Skull Valley has been burning since August 17 and will continue to burn until it burns itself out.
The fire is located near mile marker 13 on SR-196, according to Bucky Whitehouse, Tooele County Emergency Management Director.
For the first 24 hours, crews attended to the fire, until they came to the conclusion that the 0.1 acre fire probably would not spread because of improved weather conditions. Crews are currently working with the property owners to keep an eye on the haystack, but for now, it will continue to burn.
Although the cause is still under investigation, the fire was likely ignited by lightning, Whitehouse said.
