The Old Grantsville Dinner Theatre will present “The Scarlet Pimpernel” at their theatre in Grantsville from Oct. 24-29.
“The Scarlet Pimpernel” is an action/adventure musical based on Baroness Orczy’s famous 20th-century novel about the French Revolution and the battle for liberty, equality, and fraternity. With an epic, sweeping book by Nan Knighton and a rousing and passionate score by Knighton and Frank Wildhorn, “The Scarlet Pimpernel” is a colorful window into 18th-century French and British history.
The show’s most popular numbers include “Into the Fire,” “When I Look At You,” “You Are My Home,” “She Was There,” and “I’ll Forget You.”
“We actually decided to do this show just because we had so many requests for it,” said Macae Wanberg, who owns the theatre along with her husband, Kelly. “I was only slightly familiar with it at the time. As we have rehearsed it, I have seen why people wanted to do it. Such an epic story of adventure and romance, with amazing music, comparable to Les Misérables.”
Vanessa Knickerbocker is taking her first shot at directing the show, with Wanberg as a consultant.
“She knows the show well and is doing amazing work,” Wanberg said.
Some characters are double cast, so please check the double cast schedule at the end of this notice before purchasing tickets if you are coming to support a particular actor.
Doors for shows open one-half hour before each event. Guests are seated in the order they purchased tickets, but on dinner nights, dinner guests are seated in front of show-only guests. Please let us know if there is a disability we can help accommodate, Wanberg said.
