He was born and raised in Tooele, Utah where he shadowed his dad on locksmith jobs and worked with his mom on merit badges for his Eagle Scout award. He loved photography, trains, firetrucks, and history. Gary also loved to travel. He loved to plan trips that included visiting temples and lighthouses any chance he could. Gary’s church service brought a lot of experience and friendship to him over the years. He served in many callings at the ward and stake level. He was very organized and loved using his talents to serve those around him.
Gary met Carolyn in a singles ward in Bountiful, Utah, and they quickly fell in love. They were married and a few years later and settled in Kaysville, Utah, where they lived for 23 years. In 2015 they moved to North Salt Lake. The most important thing to Gary was his family. He was always intentional with how he spent his time. His children and grandchildren brought him immense joy.
