Shakespeare meets Elvis Presley on the Tooele High School stage with THS Theatre’s production of “All Shook Up,” opening on Sept. 26 at 7 p.m.
The production runs for three nights, Sept. 26, 27, and 28. All performances ate at 7 p.m., with tickets selling for $8 for all seats.
Loosely based on Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, this hip-swiveling, lip-curling musical fantasy will have you jumpin’ out of your blue suede shoes with such classics as “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Hound Dog,” “Jailhouse Rock,” and “Don’t Be Cruel.”
“All Shook Up” is a 2004 American jukebox musical with music from the Elvis Presley songbook and with a book by Joe DiPietro. The show concerns the repressed residents of an unnamed American town in the 1950s who experience an awakening when a leather-clad guitar-strumming roustabout rolls into town. It is a fun, family-friendly show.
The show is a faculty/student production. THS faculty are cast in the lead roles, with students featured in supporting roles and as ensemble members and dancers.
The THS production of “All Shook Up” stars: Mr. Duggan as Chad; Mrs. Allred as Natalie; Mr. Purvis as Jim; Ms. Bates as Sylvia; Mr. Hinton as Dennis; Mrs. Timothy as Mayor Matilda; and Mr. Gillham as Sheriff Earl. Also starring: Anne Gillespie as Lorraine and Eddie Zarate as Dean.
Show dates are Sept. 26, 27, 28 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $8 and are available at our.show/allshookup24. No cash will be accepted at the door.
Upcoming mainstage shows for THS Theatre include Boublil and Schönberg’s “The Pirate Queen,” running Oct. 29, 30, 31, and Nov. 1, 2, 2024; “Murder on the Orient Express,” running Feb. 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 2025; and “Once Upon a Mattress,” running April 22, 23, 24, 25, and 26, 2025.
