Dedication scheduled for November 10

The last public tour of the Deseret Peak Utah Temple was held on Saturday, Oct. 19.
During the open house period, which started on Sept. 29, Richard Droubay, of Tooele, chairman of the open house committee, reported that the temple had 130,911 visitors.
Over 11,000 volunteers from Tooele Valley participated in helping during the open house and contributed over 35,000 hours of volunteer service. In addition, service missionaries and their leaders, along with Latter-day Saint sister missionaries, contributed over 7,000 hours of volunteer service.
“We had thirteen committees that consisted of about 125 additional volunteers that contributed an additional 10,000 hours of service,” Droubay said.
Although white shirts and ties weren’t required to tour the temple, customers at local businesses noticed an uptick of men, women and children dressed in their best attire stopping at local restaurants and other businesses during the openhouse period.
Visitors from far-ranging areas like Russia, Germany, the Philippines, Korea, Italy, the countries of Georgia, Iraq, Sri Lanka, Dominican Republic, France, Mexico, Guatemala, Venezuela, Canada, and from many of the States, traveled to Tooele to tour the temple.
The furthest stateside visitors were from Arkansas, North Carolina, Connecticut, and Florida.
“We were amazed at the broad response to this Open House but more amazed at the comments from so many of the visitors on the beauty of this temple,” Droubay said. “Many also commented on the serenity and peace they felt while inside the Temple.
“Personally, my wife and I were thrilled to be part of this great event. We witnessed so many good things during the four week open house period. So much kindness, so much appreciation for this Temple.”
The Deseret Peak Utah Temple will be dedicated on Sunday, November 10, 2024. The dedicatory sessions will be broadcast to all units in the Deseret Peak Utah Temple district. More details about the temple dedication will be announced later.
