The multicultural dance group Flores del Desierto performs a colorful traditional dance from central Mexico on Vine Street in Tooele City for the Downtown Fiesta on Saturday, September 14,2024.

Why was the section of road in Tooele City between Garden Street and Main on Vine Street closed on Saturday? Because of the Downtown Fiesta!

The second annual Downtown Fiesta, hosted by the Tooele Downtown Alliance, was held on Saturday, September 14, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Around 800 people attended the event.

Entertainment at the fiesta included Latinos in Action, Hispanic dancers from all over the world. a DJ, line dancing, a mariachi band, and salsa dancers. There were around 50 vendors at the event who sold jewelry, clothing, home and yard décor, bath products, crystals, ice cream, snow cones, lemonade, beer, and more.

Along with entertainment and vendors, members of the Downtown Alliance hosted taco, salsa, and pinata contests.

“The fiesta was consistent with people all day, and it was a huge success,” said Tyson Hamilton, director of the TDA.

Members of the Downtown Alliance want to thank community members who attended and those who helped plan the fiesta.

“We’re already discussing how much bigger we can make this next year,” Hamilton said. “I’m pumped for our 2025 lineup.”

The event was first created in 2023 as a way to celebrate culture in Tooele City during Hispanic Independence Month.

The Tooele Downtown Alliance is a registered nonprofit organization.
