8/17/1939 – 11/24/2024

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dad, Eugene T. Chaffee, 85. He was born in Muskegon, Michigan, Aug. 17, 1939, to Edward Thayer Chaffee and Grace Mary Purdue Chaffee.

As the child of an army family, he moved often, but he was adventurous and found adventures everywhere he lived. He met our mom, and the love of his life, in Stockton, California, marrying her Dec. 26, 1969, and went on several adventures together. Dad loved driving. He took us on many adventures. He would just say “Let’s get in the car.”

Dad is survived by his children Bart Chaffee, Mary (Rusty) Bice, Barbara (Jason) Jones; and our uncle Ed and aunt Lorrie Chaffee; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dad is preceded in death by our mom Rosa Marie Chaffee, his parents, our aunt Marie, our brother Troy, our sister Cheryl and two great-grandsons.

Services will be at the LDS Ward meeting house at 1030 S. 900 West, Thursday, Dec. 5, 2024. We are honoring Dad’s request that we don’t have a viewing, but we will greet family and friends starting at 10:30 a.m. with the funeral to begin at noon.  Internment will be at Tooele City Cemetery. Luncheon to follow at the ward meeting house.

We really would like to express our heartfelt thank you to Bishop Mudrow, Justin Roper, Heather and her team from Harmony Hospice, and the Relief Society for all the love and support you all have extended to our dad and our family.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Tate Mortuary.
