A fire on the afternoon of Saturday, Aug. 31, caused extensive damage to a home in Tooele City.
The fire was reported around 12:07 p.m. near 916 N. 1430 East. When Tooele City firefighters arrived, they found a large fire that they believe started toward the back of the house, according to Tooele City’s fire chief, Matt McCoy.
During the fire, the main floor and second floor was severely damaged. It is unclear whether or not the residents of the home will be able to continue living in their home, McCoy said.
Other nearby structures were threatened in the fire, but firefighters were able to contain the fire on the property.
Tooele City firefighters were on scene for four hours and were assisted by firefighters from the Tooele County Fire Department and the North Tooele Fire District. Mountain West Medical Center ambulance staff were also present.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, McCoy said.
