A stabbing occurred on the evening of Tuesday, Oct. 1, in Tooele City after an 18-year-old male allegedly instigated a fight between his sister and another juvenile.
The man was arrested for criminal solicitation and conspiracy of aggravated assault, both third-degree felonies.
On Tuesday, Oct. 1, at around 8:20 p.m., officers were dispatched to a stabbing in the area of Spencer’s Field, located at 900 W. Timpie Road, according to a probable cause statement written by the arresting officer.
Upon arrival, officers identified a juvenile suspect who stabbed a juvenile victim. The victim was transported to a local hospital to treat her wounds. She is now reported to be in stable condition.
Upon interviewing the juvenile suspect, the suspect disclosed that the 18-year-old male had arranged the fight between the victim and the suspect.
The juvenile suspect said that the 18-year-old male antagonized and arranged a fight over a phone call between the juvenile suspect and the victim. The victim was identified to be the man’s younger sister, according to the PC statement. The juvenile suspect said that the man was present once the fight between the victim and the offender began.
The next day, on Wednesday, Oct. 2, the victim was interviewed. She provided officers with proof of messages between her and her brother. The messages allegedly showed that her brother had continued to antagonize the juveniles by exchanging insults between both of them. The victim said that her brother had watched the fight take place and had done nothing.
Video footage of the incident provided by the victim showed a knife visible. Bystanders also confirmed that there was a weapon that was used during the altercation. The video further showed the juvenile suspect stab the victim multiple times. At no point in the video did the male ever intervene, according to the PC statement.
The male was interviewed after the incident and allegedly acknowledged that he knew there was going to be a fight. He also acknowledged the messages between himself and his sister.
