The accident occurred on I-80 westbound near mile marker 107, at 11:30 a.m., according to a press release by the Utah Highway Patrol.

At the time of the accident, the driver of a Mazda 3 experienced a tire blowout, leading to a loss of control and a collision with a dump truck traveling in the area. The crash resulted in the dump truck hitting the guardrail and rolling down an embankment, where it caught fire.

The driver of the dump truck sustained fatal injuries at the scene. The driver of the Mazda, a 19-year-old female, was transported to the hospital with minor injuries, according to the press release. Westbound I-80 was closed for several hours during an investigation, impeding traffic returning to Tooele County from the Salt Lake Valley.
