Melanie Brook Jensen Jackson – Tooele Transcript Bulletin

Reading Time: 3 minutes

I was born May 31, 1969. I’m the oldest child of Robert and Kathy Jensen. I often describe my growing up years as idyllic. Spending summer vacations at Lake Powell, riding my daddy’s Honda in “Squirrlesville” with friends, and lots of time with grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins and friends.

I attended and graduated from Tooele High School, serving as the class of 1987’s senior class president.

After high school I attended USU, SLCC, and Weber State where I earned my LPN and RN licenses.

I chose to join the Utah National Guard to help pay for college and serve our country. I served in Desert Storm in 1990, stationed in Saudi Arabia, earning veteran of a foreign war status.

I loved my career in nursing. Serving others brought me great happiness. I have loved being able to meet new people, hear their stories, and provide comfort to them in some way… Amazing!

I met my forever love, Mathew Jackson in 1996 and we were married in the Salt Lake Temple on March 7, 1997. We have been blessed with three incredibly talented, happy, smart children. Baylee Brook Gould (Ryan), Emma Kay Ascarte (Ryan), and Jared Mathew Jackson. Mat and I have experienced all the happiness with two grandsons, Griffin Zachery Gould and Bridger Brooks Gould. We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our first granddaughter, Lyla Brook Ascarte, due December 2024.

Being a wife and mother has always been my greatest desire in life. Being a grandmother was an added blessing that brought me joy beyond measure. Mat, our children and precious grandchildren have been the source of strength and greatest joys of my life.

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I’ve enjoyed serving in many callings. I am most grateful for my testimony of Jesus Christ. I am so grateful for His atonement,

giving us the choice to live together eternally as families. I take great comfort in knowing that Christ broke the bands of death, that we will all be resurrected, and that we each have an opportunity to live with Him and our Heavenly Father and Mother forever.

I am survived by my greatest love, my forever companion, Mathew Lloyd; along with my children Baylee Brook Gould (Ryan), Emma Kay Ascarte (Ryan), and Jared Mathew Jackson; my daddy Rob Jensen; my mother-in-law Karie Jackson; my siblings Michonne Terry (Bryan), Blake Jensen (Aleisha), Emily Spendlove (Russ), Blake Jackson (Gina), Mark Jackson (Shelly); along with my beautiful nieces and nephews. I am also survived by my very best friend Shelly Taylor. I am preceded in death by my mother Kathy Jensen, father-in-law Lloyd Jackson, and grandparents.

You have all stood by me through the highs and lows of my earthly journey, and I will anxiously await our grand reunion in the eternities.

Family and friends will be received from 6 until 8 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2024, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 332 E. 1000 North, Tooele, Utah; as well as Thursday, Sept. 5, 2024, at the same location, from 10 until 10:45 a.m. prior to the funeral at 11 a.m.
