Small fire at the Tooele County building – Tooele Transcript Bulletin

Reading Time: 1 minute

A small fire was reported at the Tooele County building on Wednesday, Oct. 16.

The fire started around 11:17 a.m. Several Tooele City Fire Department engines responded to the dispatch call.

The fire started on the third floor where HVAC crews were removing an old air handler unit, according to Brittany Lopez, assistant county manager and confirmed by Tooele City Fire Chief, Matt McCoy.

“It appeared that a gentleman using a concrete saw to cut the floor may have accidentally sparked the fire, as [the] Tooele City Fire Department believes a spark from the saw ignited insulation within the wall,” Lopez said.

Fire crews evacuated the building and put out the fire. No damage was done to the building.

“We appreciate the quick response of the fire team,” Lopez said.
